Chapter X

What′s a Little Chaos Among Friends?

Chaos was the law of nature. Order was the dream of Man.

Henry Adams

College is difficult enough without being an aspiring Witch. Or in my case, Wizard. Start with a full class schedule, track practice, and a side job, then throw in Witchcraft studies along with a Demon on the side, things get hectic. Then add a beautiful, exotic woman into the mix, life gets a bit chaotic.

Tuesday morning I stepped into English class early, hoping the ladies had done the same. I was happy to see they had. They had occupied our little corner in the back, saving an empty desk for me in the middle.

They both seemed as delighted as I was to see each other after the weekend apart. Leza stood up and hugged me tightly, but shook her head and backed up when I tried to kiss her. She put her finger to my lips, stopping me.

"No sir, not here. You still dangerous. And I haven't seen you since Friday! You better not!" She smiled sexily at me and sat down, putting me between her and Netta. It seemed like a good place to be.

"Later maybe?" I prodded. Her eyes sparkled. She bit her lower lip and kept a watchful eye on me.

I turned to Netta. "How you doin′ pretty lady? How was your weekend?"

She shrugged, then waved her hand in the air. "Too busy. I need a break already. From college and work." She frowned, then heaved a heavy sigh to emphasize the point.

"No kidding, we had tests all day yesterday. This first semester is kind of a shock." Leza leaned back in her desk, sighed, and got comfortable.

"I agree with you. Small-town high school didn't prepare us for college. I spent the whole weekend reading and studying." They weren't ready to know about my Witchcraft studies yet, so I didn't mention that.

"We had to skip lunch yesterday, trying to study up between classes. We missed you." Leza smiled at me.

"I had to bring a sack lunch myself, but I missed our lunch date, and you."

"I missed our lunch date too. They a nice break." Netta grinned.

"I'm like ya'll, I had to catch up on my reading between classes too, while I ate lunch outside my classroom yesterday."

"Huh, they could've told us the homework was gonna triple up on us. And we're still behind on our reading. I don't think we're ever gonna catch up" Netta glanced at Leza and frowned.

"I think after this first month, we'll get into the swing of things. It's gonna be okay," I offered.

"Girlfriend, you gonna be alright, you just stressed right now." Leza looked past me at Netta.

"Uh-oh, anything I can help with?"

"I doubt it."

"She broke up with her boyfriend over the weekend," Leza announced.

"Huh, talk about me telling everything." Netta scowled at her.

"Sorry, but I told you Curtis wasn't no good."

"Curtis Davis?" I had to raise an eyebrow.

"Yeah." Netta glanced at me and pouted.

"Well, I don't mean to get in your business, but you could do better.
